6 ways to integrate thermal water into our beauty routine

July 27, 2021

To take care of your skin, forget tap water (whose limestone attacks the skin) and integrate thermal water into your beauty routine. True cocoon care for sensitive, irritated or intolerant skin, thermal waters are beneficial for all skin types. Find out how to use them.

Thermal waters are hot subterranean waters extracted either by deep drilling or by capture when they spring to the surface. Taken at the source, they are preserved from all forms of pollution. Considered to be pure, they sometimes travel hundreds of kilometers along a series of rocks and are enriched when they come into contact with trace elements and mineral salts. Their mineral content and their properties therefore vary depending on the geological nature of the soils they have passed through: calcium, potassium, zinc, magnesium, selenium, silica, strontium, iron, etc.

Many thermal springs are recognized by the Academy of Medicine for their applications and benefits concerning ENT and skin conditions (from eczema to severe burns or post-cancer care). As such, they are used in thermal cures for therapy. But fortunately, thermal water is not reserved for the specific clientele of hydrotherapy.

Note that thermal waters are protected by French regulations (the strictest in Europe), which prohibits filtering or treating them chemically. The Aquacert label guarantees their original purity and integrity.

Not just water but an active ingredient

In most cosmetics, water is the main ingredient – usually distilled or deionized water, which is easy to incorporate. Thermal water, on the other hand, is not just water, but an active ingredient.

We could say that these waters are “living”, because each of them contains a specific microflora which has been the subject of in-depth studies, in particular at La Roche Posay and Avène. As extracts of microflora cannot be included in a cosmetic treatment, these two laboratories derive, by biotechnology, a prebiotic.

Very different mineral compositions

Thanks to pharmacological research on these waters carried out by the groups that acquired the sources (L’Oréal with Vichy, La Roche Posay and Saint-Gervais, Pierre Fabre with Avène, Léa Nature with Jonzac, etc.), we now know how specifies the properties which have long been conferred on them empirically.

Their compositions differ, some being little mineralized (Avène, La Roche Posay), others very loaded with minerals (Uriage, Jonzac, Vichy). This index is calculated in grams of dry residue per liter. But they have in common to respect the cutaneous physiological balance of the skin and to be perfectly tolerated by the most sensitive skins.

  • At Avène, for example, the water is weakly mineralized and has a neutral pH (which respects the skin’s balance). It derives its benefits from a clever bicarbonate, calcium and magnesium ionic balance. It is these active molecules that fight against the phenomena of inflammation and itching of the skin.
  • At La Roche-Posay, it is the combination of minerals (bicarbonate, calcium, silicates, selenium, zinc, copper) which provides antioxidant, protective, soothing, anti-irritant and decongestant properties.
  • Finally at Uriage, thermal water is said to be “isotonic”, that is to say that it comes into osmosis with the skin. It penetrates into the skin cells, without affecting their integrity (size, volume).

Overall, all of them have soothing, fortifying, antioxidant, even moisturizing or healing properties. But thermal water treatments are not just for problem skin. A mist spray after makeup removal, shaving or sport is beneficial to all skin types, and their virtues also benefit anti-aging care, for babies, make-up for damaged skin, sun products or shampoos and regulating hair care.

Top Health Award: 3 questions to Asepta

July 07, 2021

For more than 75 years, Asepta Laboratories have been manufacturing and distributing dermo-cosmetic treatments entirely designed and manufactured in the Principality of Monaco. The range of their products evolves and renews itself according to the progress of cosmetology and the era of time. In order to learn a little more about the flagship products of the laboratories and their history, we asked them our 3 questions.

1 / Can you tell us about the different products in the D’ame Nature range? What are they ? Why did you put forward a formula with 91% natural products?

Since 1943, Asepta laboratories have been listening to users and innovating to meet their expectations. Today, we are witnessing the emergence of a new generation of consumers: for them, pharmaceutical guarantees and the effectiveness of formulas are essential but insufficient. They are looking for products with natural active ingredients and ingredients that respect their health and the planet. While our classic ranges obviously meet the specifications of European cosmetic regulations and the French ANSM, the D’ame Nature range aims to go further and meet these new needs. We started with face treatments such as milky cleansing oil and moisturizers, and on the strength of our success and our know-how, we continued with body, foot and nail treatments. Today, for example, we offer nail polish formulated from vegetable solvents, bio-sourced materials and ingredients of natural origin.

2 / Can you tell us about the history of Coup d’Éclat? How did this concept come about?

In 1975, Paul Lacroix and Henri Mas, the founders of the Asepta laboratories in Monaco, wanted to create their first facial treatment. They then imagine an instant elixir capable of restoring radiance to the skin just before a party, an SOS treatment presented in single-dose format, a very innovative approach at the time. They then baptized these ampoules “Coup d’éclat” and registered this name which would become a few decades later the common expression to define this immediate lifting effect and this incredible glow that every woman seeks!

3 / How have Coup d’Eclat bulbs evolved and what is their novelty today?

The ampoule formula has constantly evolved over the past 45 years to take advantage of research into new, more effective and better tolerated active ingredients. The Lift & Light bulb launched last July benefits from new plant-tensing active ingredients for a reinforced lifting effect that is suitable for all skin types, even sensitive. Its formula has also been enriched with mineral pearls to boost the healthy glow effect and with a complex of hydrating plants and hyaluronic acid salt which gives it a new anti-wrinkle and firming action for a global action on the skin.

Top Health Award: 3 questions to Resultime

July 07, 2021

For more than 60 years, the Resultime Laboratory has been carrying out pioneering research on the issue of skin aging. Their know-how, based on the use of collagen, has enabled them to develop a range of products with proven effectiveness. In order to learn a little more about their products and their effects, we spoke with Ingrid Pernet, director of scientific communication.

1 / In your opinion today, what are the users of beauty treatments waiting for?

Currently, when we look at the studies that are being done on this subject, we notice a major upward trend: the dimension of personalization of beauty treatment. This trend has developed the use of targeted care and the creation of personalized care routines. Obviously, we have always had the habit of using treatments according to our skin type. But today, our women realize that the needs are not the same according to the seasons, their lifestyle, the times of the day… The impact of the environment on the needs of the skin is very important. . We have therefore created Collagen Boosters, which provide targeted molecules such as Vitamin C or Retinol for example. These boosters fit into the daily skincare routine and precisely and punctually reinforce the various actions: hydration, elasticity, radiance, nutrition. Boosters are therefore tailor-made treatments that everyone can use according to their current needs. A few drops in the palm of your hand, applied pure or mixed with its moisturizer, when you feel like it.

2 / Vitamin C is a molecule present at the heart of your boosters formulas, can you tell us more about its benefits?

We have launched two Boosters: one to meet the need for radiance and the other to meet the needs for density and firmness with an anti-wrinkle action: the Radiance Booster with Vitamin C and the Lift Booster with Retinol. Vitamin It is the benchmark active ingredient for radiance. It is anti-oxidant, and thus protects the skin from free radicals and on the other hand it lightens melanin, a brown to black pigment responsible for the dark coloring of the skin installed on the surface and thus gives a real boost to the skin.

3 / Many of us are concerned about the signs of aging that appear. How do you respond to this problem?

Resultime is a laboratory specializing in anti-aging care. For 60 years, our laboratory’s expertise has been based on collagen: the natural component of the skin that plays the most role in its youth, since it ensures firmness and resistance. From the age of 20, we lose 1% of collagen per year. It is therefore fundamental to restore this capital if we wish to correct and limit the appearance of signs of aging. But the collagen molecule is too big a molecule to penetrate the skin if applied directly. We have therefore developed an exclusive patented technology: vectorized micro-collagen, a small fragment of collagen that immediately penetrates the skin and in turn stimulates it to produce its own collagen. This active ingredient is at the heart of all of our skincare and of our Boosters. The Collagen Serum Gel with plumping collagen, which is the No. 1 collagen serum sold in pharmacies, is therefore our star product. You can also mix the Boosters with this serum to obtain more radiance or firmness, according to your own needs. The Retinol Booster Lift is particularly recommended for preventing the signs of aging: retinol is a powerful active ingredient for cell renewal which stimulates the production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. By helping to maintain the thickness of the dermis, retinol contributes to the youthfulness of the skin.

We have a detox sauna for the face

July 07, 2021

This steam bath (or facial sauna) will allow you to pamper the skin of your face, which wearing a mask prevents you from breathing. In addition, this ritual is easy to do at home with natural ingredients. A recipe proposed by Peau neuve, beauty influencer, in her Guide to combination skin.

Unlike dry skin, combination skin is often difficult to pinpoint, and it can be difficult to know how to care for it. For good reason, combination skin displays a certain ambivalence since it has dry areas and others with a rather oily tendency. And since we are obliged to wear a mask all day long, many of us have to play the balancing act to best respond to hydration needs and dullness of our face. Slow cosmetics enthusiasts will love this facial fumigation (or facial sauna), a homemade treatment offered by Peau neuve, beauty influencer.

The steam bath, a treat for combination skin

“Facial fumigation is like a mini sauna for the face, a very important step in purifying the face” explains the influencer. The benefits of this treatment are multiple:

  • Steam penetrates blocked pores.
  • It is a deep treatment that facilitates the extraction of comedones.
  • The face is purified, fresh and the oily areas are reduced.
  • Fumigation has a double action, cutaneous and respiratory, it is a real moment of relaxation which cleans the skin.

Here is the mini facial sauna recipe for combination skin oily and or acne (blotchy and irritated skin to refrain).

The ingredients for facial fumigation

  • 2 tablespoon of lemon hydrosol
  • 1 tablespoon of rosemary verbenone hydrosol
  • 2 drops of tea tree essential oil
  • 2 drops of verbenone rosemary essential oil

Preparing the steam bath

  1. Boil some water and place it in a bowl.
  2. Add the mixture of hydrosols and essential oils.
  3. Place your clean face over the bowl on a stable stand and completely cover your head with a towel. Enjoy the benefits of this flavored vapor for up to 10 minutes. Take advantage of this moment to relax and breathe in the natural scent of plants.

Treatments that pamper the skin

After the facial sauna, apply a mask or scrub and always finish with cold water or a cold lemon or peppermint hydrosol, the best for tightening the pores.

Then apply your night (or day) cream depending on the time of day.

Precautions for use

To properly eliminate impurities and maximize the benefits of care, it is advisable to perform this steam bath twice a month maximum, before a scrub or a mask. We always end a fumigation with a treatment that tightens the pores otherwise they will clog again and this treatment will be of no use. If the steam is too hot, wait a little, one or two minutes. As the goal is not to burn yourself, the skin should not touch the water. This treatment is pleasant and non-aggressive. It does not keep.
Due to the presence of essential oils, it is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.

5 steps to protect your skin from the cold

July 07, 2021

Falling temperature, wind, rain or snow … Your skin is put to the test. Change your habits to display a beautiful complexion all winter long.

The two keys to protected skin, even in cold weather? Adapt your diet and use beauty products with creamy formulas.

1-Preserve your lips

Their thin skin, devoid of sebaceous glands, is not resistant to wind and cold. We adopt a balm enriched with vegetable butter (cotton, shea) that we apply generously throughout the day, and in the evening before going to bed.

Advice in +:

  • We change the lip balm formula regularly, otherwise the skin gets used to it and the treatment becomes less effective.
  • When you leave a hydrating face mask on, you think of applying it to the lips, for an extra soft mouth.

2-Apply a protective complexion product

We play the mille-feuilles effect, like a windbreaker placed on the skin. We superimpose moisturizing serum and day cream, then we add a BB or CC cream, enriched with moisturizing and protective active ingredients, sometimes equipped with an anti UV filter. It acts as a shield against external aggressions and it evens out the complexion.

3-Target your makeup products

On the eyes and the cheeks we favor oily textures, much more comfortable and less drying than powders. They have a silky and ultra luminous finish, very suitable for the low light of winter.

4-Remineralize your body

Under the effect of stress and an unbalanced diet, the body becomes acidic. We find an alkaline balance when diving 3 evenings in a row in a bath enriched with salt d’Epsom rich in magnesium (2 mugs of salt for a 15-minute immersion). We go out relaxed, and the body is full of minerals. Our cells evolve in a favorable ecosystem and our skin is better hydrated.

5-Eat green

We adopt a “beautiful skin” smoothie in the morning, composed of 50% green leafy vegetables (rich in magnesium and potassium) and 50% seasonal fruits. We add flax seeds, rich in anti-inflammatory omega 3, perfect for sensitive skin. These seeds also contribute to the proper functioning of the intestines, an essential factor to display a beautiful complexion.

Tired? Your healthy glow strategy for New Year's Eve

July 07, 2021

Wearing a mask all day, exposure to cigarette smoke, blue light from smartphones and computers: it is not always easy to maintain the vital energy of your skin and to look good. So we give you the steps to follow to display a relaxed and bright face on New Year’s Eve.

Qf you want to play daring with effects that you don’t dare the rest of the year, or that you just prefer to accentuate your everyday look, end-of-year eve’s are here. opportunity to wear makeup a little more than usual. In any case, give way to your imagination to create a make-up that looks like you.

  • The black trump : it is the timeless classic and elegant color. It is suitable for all skin tones and all irises.
  • The touch of gold : this luminous shade suits almost all skin tones. It can be a little bland on fair skin tones, so prefer a pink gold or a white gold.
  • The pinch of glitter : it is the festive touch par excellence, and, contrary to popular belief, you can modulate their intensity and associate them with all the nuances.
  • The desire for nude : naturalness works every time, as long as you don’t go wrong with the shade and slightly enhance your skin tone.

If you have dry skin and tight features

This is characterized by uncomfortable dryness, more pronounced fine lines and a less drawn oval. To regain a healthy glow, you can play on hydration and stimulation of the skin, both in skincare and makeup.

In order to find a healthier skin, nothing like super-rehydration using a nourishing, moisturizing or anti-aging mask. Your choice: a cream formula applied all night over a serum, a biocellulose mask or other new texture on which is impregnated a treatment concentrated in active vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

  • The trick: pamper the skin of the face by offering it a silk pillowcase, which protects against friction. And for better penetration, apply your cream 1 hour before bedtime.

We go to self-massage

Stimulating the skin with the fingers increases its suppleness, elasticity and firmness. On a daily basis, these quick and easy actions can really make a difference.

  • The trick: apply serumand cream with upward smoothing movements, from the inside to the outside of the face. Finish with tapping with your fingertips.

We smooth the epidermis

With a BB cream, easy to apply with your fingertips on the T zone (by stretching it towards the outside of the face), which brings hydration and uniformity to the skin. If we need more coverage, we choose a foundationt very fluid, to which we can add a few drops of dry oil. A good compromise between comfort and radiance, without making the skin shine too much. Only the T zone is then powdered if necessary.

  • The trick: to make small touch-ups during the day, use a matte corrective stick, preferably with a powder which risks marking the lines.

We plump up his mouth

A sad mouth can make you look tired. It is rehydrated using a nourishing balm (based on wax and vegetable oil). Like a base, it will smooth the lips and allow the rouge to set better.

The trick: applied with a finger or a brush, starting with the heart and without marking the contours too much, a warm, orange-red shade immediately illuminates the face.

If you have a cloudy complexion

Mask, fine particles, cigarette smoke, blue light … The skin is subjected to many attacks on a daily basis. In particular, the combination of UV rays and pollution which increases oxidative stress on the skin. As a result, it thickens and the face looks dull. So, what to do about loss of radiance, uneven skin tone or small redness?

We refine the skin texture

To gently exfoliate the skin, it is better to use exfoliators made from fruit acids rather than grains. Thus, both irritating the epidermis and over-mobilizing the skin tissues which are fragile are avoided. There are also specific masks, the exposure time of which varies, depending on the dosage of AHA (fruit acids) and the type of skin.

  • The trick: easy to use, the peeling lotion is applied in the evening with a cotton pad, before the night cream, two or three times a week.

We wake up his complexion

It is better to avoid using a foundation and prefer a simple concealer, which will serve as a foundation and corrector product, after the application of the serum and the day cream.

The trick: it is applied in small strokes to stretch with the fingers, only on the T zone and where the skin needs to be touched up (to hide pimples, redness …).

We protect our skin

By choosing treatments that not only provide good hydration, but also provide internal and external protection. Thus, the day cream must contain good moisturizers (hyaluronic acid, glycerin), to maintain water in the skin, and especially shielding ingredients such as antioxidants, and possibly sun filters. Be careful not to choose it too oily if the skin does not need it.

The trick: several times a day, we do not hesitate to spray an anti-pollution moisturizing mist in order to reinforce the barrier effect of the treatments.

We make a good look

A touch of blush is essential to finalize a radiance boost on the face. Better to forget terracottas and rosewoods, because these rather dull tones tend to gray the complexion.

The trick: choose brighter roses, in gel or cream texture, more transparent and therefore brighter than a powder. Apply on the rounded cheek while smiling at the mirror, using a large synthetic bristle brush or with the fingers by light tapping.

If you have dark circles or bags under your eyes

The eye area is a very vulnerable area, because it is very stressed while the skin is extremely thin. “Dehydration, irritation, water accumulation and sagging appear quickly”, emphasizes Karine Gautier, head of aesthetic training at LPG. Hence the importance of care to limit the appearance of puffiness, crow’s feet and colored or hollow circles.

We erase dark circles

Whether they are bluish, brown or yellow, you must use first a concealerliquid, chosen a little lighter than the foundation, but not too much so as not to gray the skin: ivory for light skin, beige for “mediums” and orange for dark skin.

  • The trick: tap the material with your finger under the eye and make a fade with the cheek. Then superimpose a cream stick a warmer tone, still patting without smoothing.

We hydrate morning and evening

By choosing the right galenic. When it is neither too greasy nor too thick, it is quite possible to apply an eye contour treatment also in the evening, without risking waking up with swollen eyes in the morning. On the other hand, avoid putting your face cream on this area, because its texture is more oily.

  • The trick: care is taken to deposit it in very small quantities and at a good distance from the mucous membrane of the eye to avoid irritating it.

We find a keen eye

We must open our eyes, by “working” it upwards. Make up only the upper eyelid: with a dark brown pencil rather than black, for the eyeliner line, then a black mascara to dress the eyelashes by stretching them outwards.

  • The trick: add a bronze eyeshadow on the eyelid to bring light, without forgetting to redraw the line of the eyebrows with a dark brown pencil, or lighter if you have blond hair.

Thanks to Joséphine, make-up artist for Bourjois, Cathy Billaudaz, training manager at Carita, Karine Gautier, aesthetic training manager at LPG and Enzo Fournier, makeup artist.

What type of mascara to favor with a smoky?
Choose an intense black, which gives depth to the eyes. To add substance to the eyelashes, prefer volumizing mascaras. If the makeup of lower lashes is generally not recommended by makeup artists, smoky is the exception to the rule. As the underside of the eye is underlined with make-up, you can also cover the lower lashes with mascara.

Make up: which golden product to choose?
Eyeliner is an excellent ally, elegant and understated. With it, no bling-bling effect, just a golden thread along the lashes. The golden liner can be applied alone, flush with the upper lashes, or as a duo with another liner. Then draw the dark line (black, navy, plum, gray, bottle green) just above the golden line. Finish with a lengthening black mascara, which gives a doe eye effect. You can also put gold on the tips of the eyelashes. Moisten a brush, take a gold shadow and gently rub the tips of the eyelashes, to bring them a touch of light. “The golden effect is slight, but that’s what is pretty”, explains Enzo Fournier. On the other hand, avoid gold on the lips, prefer a shiny balm, coral or poppy, to put on the finger by tapping the heart of the mouth.

Make up: how to master glitter?
With a stiff brush, take a little glitter shadow, then apply it on the back of the hand. Lightly moisten the material, then crush it with your finger on the eyelid. Do not try to create a perfect halo, the rendering must remain blurry, that’s what is pretty. If you have some material left, drop it on the center of the eyelid. You can also stretch the eyeshadow below the eye. If you are using a little glittery eyeshadow, apply a simple black mascara. If you want to accentuate the glitter effect, load the lashes with mascara to give them a more intense look.

Which glitter to choose?
If you want a light glitter finish and you have a mat or tanned complexion, bet on warm tones such as brown, bronze … If you have a fair complexion, prefer cold tones (pink, white …). “To play with discretion, keep the same undertone as your skin. If you want a more contrasting effect, prefer the reverse undertone”, summarizes Enzo Fournier.

Make up nude : un look monochrome, c’est possible ?
You can apply the same shade to the eyes, lips and cheekbones. Choose it fresh, with a peach flavor. “Place it in a halo on the eyelid, like a smoky. On the lips, dab a transparent balm, then place a veil of blush on it with the pulp of the finger”, advises Enzo Fournier. Finally, sweep the color across the cheekbones, stretching it toward the temples. For a more intense effect on the eyelids, use a brown or burgundy lash line, then an icy brown, copper, sienna eyeshadow. Blur the material with a brush.

8 misconceptions about after-sun care

July 07, 2021

Bathing in the sea, UV rays and the wind alter the barrier function of the epidermis. Using an after-sun product after exposure is essential to rehydrate the skin, soothe the sun’s heat and improve the quality of your tan, day after day. Small review of knowledge on after-sun products.

Rehydrating your skin is essential

TRUE. Because under the effect of heat, water from the skin evaporates. It is therefore necessary to restore a good quality skin barrier and rehydrate the epidermis by providing it with water and nutrients. Furthermore, UV exposure causes the release of free radicals in the dermis, which damage cells. After-sun care will help limit this damage every day.

After-suns are made for that

TRUE. Because, in addition, it contains restorative and soothing active ingredients such as aloe vera, bisabolol, allantoin, calendula or chamomile. We can also find panthenol (or Vitamin B5) which will stimulate cell proliferation of the skin, calm irritation, burns and itching and maintain softness and elasticity. Not to mention antioxidant active ingredients such as vitamins A, E and C … Some even provide a feeling of freshness on application, very pleasant to soothe overheating, thanks to a menthol derivative.

Moisturizing milk would also do the trick

FAUX. The after-sun product is specifically formulated to repair sun damage and not just to hydrate and nourish, which is the role of glycerin, sometimes hyaluronic acid and butters or oils (shea, mango, coconut, etc.).

After sunburn, an after-sun is enough

FAUX. If we have a real sunburn with redness and overheating, a simple moisturizer and repairer will not be enough, because it is then necessary to soothe and repair a real burn. In this case, it is better to use real healing agents, such as Biafine, Epithelial AH from Aderma or Neocica from Filorga.

Some after-suns prolong the tan

TRUE. They allow you to stay tanned longer. Their formula may contain a small dose ofspray tan, DHA or erythrulose type, ie precursors of melanin skin pigment: tyrosine derivatives, peptides, carob, chromone, licorice extract … Compounds which will help the real tan to “rise” more quickly during the next exposure.

You can use the same treatment on the face and body

True and false. A priori, no problem. Unless your body sunscreen contains menthol or pearlescent agents (optical agents), which are not very pleasant on the face. When returning from the beach, if you prefer to put only one treatment on the face, opt for a special face after-sun which contains specific active ingredients. anti-aging (vitamin E, co-enzyme Q10 …) to promote regeneration and eliminate free radicals, generated during sun exposure. Apply it after you shower, and if necessary, again before going to bed.

Oil, mist or milk, it’s the same

True and false. Certainly, all of them contain soothing and restorative active ingredients. But depending on your skin type, it is better to choose the most suitable texture. If you have very dry skin, prefer textures rich in oils and butters, therefore thicker. If you mostly need hydration because you have normal skin the rest of the year, mists and milks will surely suffice. The choice is also made according to your taste, even if the milk in large format for the whole family remains the most practical and economical option …

Children don’t need after-sun

FAUX. This is essential ! Because the skin of children becomes dehydrated as much or more than that of adults. If it is necessary to make them drink water regularly throughout the day, it is also necessary to rehydrate their skin when they return home, after the shower, preferably with products for sensitive skin.

Moisturizing face balm: what is it, benefits, how

July 07, 2021

New SOS treatments, moisturizing balms for the face bring softness and comfort to skin weakened by the cold. Good reasons to fall for this enveloping gesture.

Mistreated with the onset of cold, our skin calls for comfort. New cuddly treatments, the balms deliciously envelop the skin and protect it against external aggressions.

What is it exactly? “A moisturizing balm is a cream rich in fatty substances (wax, emollients, vegetable oils) and / or glycerin which provides maximum hydration and comfort throughout the day. It helps to strengthen and restore the skin barrier “, explains Ilana Fartouk, research and development manager at Payot.

With its melting texture, the balm fulfills its hydration mission much better than lighter textures, such as hydrating fluids or gels for example. This galenic (physical form of the product) brings more comfort to use throughout the day, even more in winter.

The moisturizing balm, why is it good in winter?

In winter, the cold wind and humidity attack the skin and make it more fragile. This is more prone to dehydration. The whole point of the balm in winter is to act as an SOS treatment for fill this lack of hydrationand also, according to the formulas, to feed, tosoothe redness and discomfort. In short, a real cocooning gesture!

The balm, for what type of skin?

All skin types can adopt it, normal to dry skin like the most sensitive. But combination skin is not left out. “Even combination skin needs hydration in winter or during climatic or hormonal changes”, observes our expert.

How to use the balm in your beauty routine?

The balm replaces the usual day and night care. If you use a BB cream or a CC cream, it should be used before. It is therefore applied in the morning after cleansing the skin, and in the evening after removing make-up.

Another possibility is to use it as a cure when the need arises.

Praised in winter, the balm can also be used very well throughout the year in the absence of skin problems, in which case a treatment more adapted to the skin problem will be indicated.

What about the hydrating body balm?

Body balm has long been a part of our beauty routine. “Many rubs attack our skin barrier, hence the importance of using a moisturizing body balm to avoid the cracked” snakeskin “side and all the associated uncomfortable elements such as itching, redness”, advises Ilana Fartouk.

Face scrub: what we ask

July 07, 2021

Used to create clean skin, this skincare product, also called an exfoliant, is enriched with very fine and slightly abrasive particles. Here are all the benefits it offers each time you apply it to your skin.

Exfoliating the skin of the face is a beauty gesture to adopt. To do this, we choose a product capable of fulfilling its mission. What exactly is a face scrub?

The exfoliant removes dead cells

With age, stress and external aggressions (pollution, UV rays, etc.), skin cells renew themselves less quickly and less well. They accumulate and the skin thickens, the complexion becomes dull. Gentle exfoliation promotes cell renewal. The pores are tightened, the skin texture becomes smoother and the complexion, more radiant.

Face scrub loosens dirt

Under the action of the exfoliating particles, impurities in the skin are dissolved, just like toxins and pollution. And all the more so if the scrub contains a depolluting plant extract (moringa, blueberry …). It also decreases excess sebum, which clogs the pores, thus limiting the formation of blackheads and pimples. Attention, in case ofacne, exfoliation is not recommended, otherwise it will irritate the skin further.

It stimulates microcirculation

Applying it massages the face, which stimulates microcirculation. Result, the skin is better oxygenated, better nourished, more elastic.

In addition, by using a scrub, it facilitates the penetration of the products which are then used. Rid of dead cells, the skin also becomes more receptive to this care.

A texture adapted to his skin

Better to choose the texture according to your skin: a gelled base in case of combination or oily skin, a creamy texture if it is dehydrated, or even oil-based if it is very dry.

Exfoliation for the face: in practice

– How to use it ?

Apply it with your fingertips and in small circular motions, lightly insisting on the nose, forehead and chin. Conversely, avoid the eye area and the mouth area. Be careful not to strip your skin!

Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

– How often ?

– Once or twice a week if your skin is thick and oily.

– Once a week if you have combination or normal skin.

– Once every two weeks for dehydrated skin.

– Once a month only for all sensitive and thin skin.

– Avoid in very cold weather.

How to divert your cosmetics into all-terrain skincare

Sports sessions, impromptu weekends, camping in the heart of nature … You don’t always have the possibility of taking your bathroom with you. But, with a little trick, you can always do an irreproachable beauty!

How not to be burdened with a multitude of products while continuing to hydrate the skin, to apply makeup and to comb your hair? By adopting smart tricks. By diverting care from its usual use. By also using “all in one” cosmetics: they are aimed at women who are short of time, at all those who need maximum efficiency, all without unnecessarily weighing down their toiletry bag. With the advice and tips of our experts, Marie Fritsch, hairdresser Montecino-Aveda, Dr Pascale Neulat, dermatologist and Miky Lagadec, makeup artist, here are ideas to get by with the minimum of beauty tools.

The essentials after sport

With effort and perspiration, the skin heats up and loses minerals. The chlorine present in swimming pool water can also dry out the skin. As for the hair, it needs to be refreshed. A beauty kit is therefore never superfluous in a sports bag. More and more targeted cosmetics offer a maximum of practicality and efficiency for sportswomen in the form of 2 in 1 products in nomadic format.

I rehydrate my skin

Tightness, feelings of discomfort, redness, dehydration and loss of radiance are often the fate of sportswomen after exercise. To soothe the skin and restore its suppleness, adopt a formula with a light texture so as not to shine, but concentrated in vitamins and minerals. Cleanse without rubbing the skin with a special gentle cleansing wipe for sensitive skin in order to remove dirt and salt from perspiration. Then apply the treatment in small touches on the face.

I redo a pretty complexion

No face powderon hand ? Apply powder directly to your day cream using a large brush. Lightly rub your face with the palm to adhere the powder to the cream and thus obtain the effect of a mattifying foundation.

I give my hair back some pep

If your hair is flattened from perspiration, refresh it just at the roots with a few sprays of dry shampoo. On the tangled and dull lengths, a few brush strokes and you’re done.

I divert my day cream

Your moisturizer can help you out with:

  • moisturize dry areas your body (legs, arms, neckline);
  • make a mask by applying it in a thick layer: the cream becomes occlusive and allows better penetration of lipids into the epidermis;
  • untangle your hairby heating a dab of cream in your hands before distributing it evenly over the half-lengths and wrung out ends.

I replace my brushes

  • By cotton: apply the blush by tapping the cotton on the skin, then make a small movement back and forth to blend the material.
  • By a cotton swab to soften the outline of the pencils, camouflage a button with concealer, apply eye shadow or lipstick.

I do my hair without a hairdryer

  • After shampooing, adopt the “2 in 1” principle with a leave-in spray that is both care, detangling and styling to reform curls, control frizz or give support. Wring out your hair and spray. Using a headband or bar, secure a notch or buckle.
  • For straighten hair, plate them back and tie them with a ponytail. Create waves with braids on wet hair before releasing them as soon as the hair is dry.

My must-have beauty while camping

Whether in the countryside or in the mountains, the backpack should as far as possible contain the minimum survival for your skin as for your hair. Multipurpose products, easily diverted cosmetics and lightweight products are yours.

I switch to “product economy” mode

  • If taking a shower is complicated, opt for a cat toilet using a micellar water on the body or make-up removing wipes.
  • To zap body milk, use a cleansing gel with integrated moisturizing active ingredients or a washing oil in the shower.
  • On scrub occasionally, pass a washcloth all over your body to lightly exfoliate the skin by rubbing it.

I put on makeup in pencil

  • To replace an eyeshadow on the eyes, hatch the mobile eyelid horizontally with a grease pencil (blue, green, gray, brown, golden …). Then blend with the tip of the index finger to obtain a more or less intense shade. Then draw a pencil line along the lashes and blur the edge of the line.
  • With a soft lead pencil (red, pink, brown …), first draw the outline, then color the inside of your lips. Homogenize everything with a touch of balm. Thanks to the pigments of the pencil, it is a long-lasting and ultra-shiny lipstick that can even be used as a blush on the finger.

I untangle my hair without the fuss

A comb takes up less space than a brush, but it can damage the hair fiber especially if the hair is long. Here is how to do a disentangling without risk of breakage.

  • With your fingers, hold a wick by its tip, start by disentangling it by raising the comb step by step to the root. Strand by strand, you will gently remove knots.
  • If your hair has a lot of volume, start at the nape of the neck, always strand after strand, gradually pulling back the mass of hair.
  • If a knot resists, take a little moisturizer and soak it well. Detangling will be easier!

The beauty tips of an air hostess for traveling

July 07, 2021

Disheveled hair, tight skin, heaviness in the legs … For some, traveling by plane on a long-haul flight rhymes with wrinkled face, makeup that spins and hairstyle non-existent. But how do flight attendants manage to keep their complexion so fresh? Rakel Grimsdottir, flight attendant for Icelandair, gives you his tips.

How to keep skin bright, stay stylish, reduce signs of fatigue and lighten your legs during the flight? Our beauty tips from an air hostess.

Hydration, an essential beauty of the trip

Hydration is the number 1 goal for protect your skin. The dry air from the plane tends to dry out the skin of the face, lips and body. We do not hesitate to take our range of rehydrating treatments in their beauty vanity in the cabin: your choice in travel size (less than 100 mL), in wipes, or in small jars purchased in which we have poured a small quantity of this usual care. Which cosmetics to favor? A moisturizing cream or gel for the face, a hand cream, a lip balm, for example. “When my lips are too dry to apply lipstick, I stick to tinted lip balm,” advises flight attendant Rakel Grimsdottir.

Skin prepared for a long-haul flight

The most organized can think of a few tips before the trip, especially if the flight promises to be long. Rakel Grimsdottir has a habit of preparing his skin by making himself a moisturizing mask at night before a long flight. If you don’t have one, applying a moisturizer in a thick layer does the trick, according to the flight attendant.

Little tip: before leaving, put your eye contour gel and a repairing cream in the fridge to treat yourself to fresh treatments when you return from your trip. The cold has an astringent effect which tightens the pores. Perfect for smoothing out lines.

Against “heavy legs”

People prone to heavy legs phenomenonand of Water retention are often inconvenienced by plane, especially when the trip is long. Atmospheric pressure hinders the good blood circulation and blood may stagnate in the ankles and legs, causing slight swelling. To limit this inconvenience, a few tips exist: eat less salt the few days before departure and try to raise

his legs to the maximum during the flight. You leave your seat from time to time and move around the plane a bit to lighten your legs. We also avoid wearing clothes that are too tight. No more stretch pants, we prefer a loose and comfortable outfit. Socks or stockings

contention, by supporting dilated veins, can be helpful in relieving the legs.

A hairstyle that holds on the plane

Avoid over-worked hairstyles that hardly stay in place during long haul. We choose one that respects its nature of hair. “Having very long and thick hair, I often opt for a braided bun”, gives as an example Rakel Grimsdottir. On the maintenance side, the air hostess has her accessories: “a dry shampoo, flat tongs, a spray of hairspray and some rubber bands”. Passengers can opt for more lightness: ponytail, braid or loose hair.

Appropriate makeup

To wear a fresh and rested face on the plane, the flight attendant has to adhere to a well-established beauty routine: she first applies a luminous base (primer) to the face and around the eyes. “She gives me good looks while remaining natural“. Rakel Grimsdottir then raises his complexion with a bronzer but we can be satisfied with a hint of blush on the top of the temples (see our article Summer favorite beauty trends) or a BB cream that illuminates and hydrates at the same time.

Light drawing of the eyebrows (the trend is natural eyebrows), a touch of mascara. The whole thing is fixed with a fixing base for make-up such as is available on the market. Another option: spray a little thermal water on your make-up, which moisturizes, fixes and soothes, before taking the plane.

Against the “jet lag” effect on the skin

Here too, hydration is essential. “You have to drink a lot of water, before and during the flight! Insists our flight attendant. To give you an idea, I always set myself the goal of drinking at least half a liter of water during each flight” .
Against fatigue on arrival, a walk, a yoga session or a little exercise can be a good way to reduce the effects. The lucky ones who arrive at their holiday destination and have the opportunity to take a bath can take a dip in a swimming pool or in the sea for a little fresh air.

Long-lasting makeup: effective or not?

July 07, 2021

24 hour hold, 72 hour efficiency … The promises of certain cosmetic products may seem exaggerated! They are however the result of advanced technologies, proven by reliable tests. Decryption.

Cosmetic products today promise to last all day, not to run and fight perspiration for more than 72 hours. Top Santé takes stock of these promises.

Make-up that lasts from morning to night

A perfect complexion even after sweating, a flawless lipstick at the end of the day, or a mascara that resists a workout, it is now possible. Thanks to a common technology: formulation without water.

• A transfer-free foundation

It is put to the test, between perspiration and sebum! And it must not leave marks on clothes, that the powders mark wrinkles or that it is no longer uniform. It is thanks to the volatile silicones which make it possible to create non-greasy supports that we obtain more resistant and covering formulas. Once evaporated, the polymer gels form like a magnetic mesh that fixes powders and pigments on the skin for a long-lasting hold that does not migrate.

• A mascara that does not run

We know the mascaras waterproof, with infallible hold, but difficult to remove. Today, even the “normal versions” operate from morning to night without overflow. “The powders are increasingly fine, in order to coat the eyelashes without friability, and new polymers make it possible to obtain an ultra-thin film. Thus, the eyelash is curved, almost nourished, ”explains Élisabeth Bouhadana, head of scientific communication at L’Oréal Paris. And the brush is also important for precise application of mascara. “In order to measure its hold, microcameras attached to glasses take photos of the product on the eyelashes and follow its development throughout the day.

We were thus able to measure a 24-hour outfit without any problem, ”comments the scientific manager.

• Lipsticks always present

For a long time, it was necessary to choose between a lipstick that held, but dried the lips, or a comfortable but unstable rouge. It is the rise of liquid reds that has allowed the evolution of lipstick formulas to offer ultra-pigmented and stable products. The pigment concentration is 10 to 15% higher than that of red sticks, and they do not contain waxes. There are therefore mainly synthetic oils, ultra-fine and occlusive, which will fix the pigments and pearl on the lip while maintaining a supple texture. The deposited film is thin, which gives a “materialless” effect and a hold of up to twelve hours, while remaining comfortable.

Our advice

To adopt, if you want an infallible makeup from morning to night. Or if you have an evening where your beauty must remain impeccable. Or if you go to a hot and humid country, and you don’t want to change your makeup habits.

Creams that hydrate longer

More and more moisturizers for the face or for the body claim 48 hours of hydration (at Diadermine, Nuxe or Biotherm for the face). Which may seem strange, because by removing make-up, we necessarily remove the care of the skin. If these products display such information, it is because the efficacy tests (carried out before the product was put on the market) showed a markedly improved hydration rate 48 hours after application.

• Moisturizers, face or body, often contain glycerin. At an optimal rate, between 5 and 15%, this active ingredient has exceptional properties: it brings water to the skin, retains that already present and slows down the insensible water loss (PIE).

• In body care, it is associated with oils and vegetable or synthetic butters.

• For the face, it is combined with two types ofhyaluronic acids : “One of high molecular weight which retains water on the surface, and another, fractionated, which keeps water in the structures of the epidermis and boosts the synthesis of hyaluronic acid in the skin. This gives you very good long-acting moisturizers, ”explains Élisabeth Bouhadana.

• Other ingredients also have good results, such asaloe vera or even urea.

• Another factor explaining long-lasting hydration capacities: the evolution of galenics. “Liquid cosmetics, close to plasma, have a stronger affinity with the skin than creams. Penetration is immediate and without occlusive effect. The hydrating effect is 48 to 72 hours! »Continues the specialist.

Our advice

Whenever you need hydration, these treatments are for you. And more, if you have the dry skin, sensitive or very exposed to the elements.

Deodorants effective for several days

When the deodorants without aluminum salts most often display a maximum effectiveness of one day, antiperspirants, they go up to 48 hours! And some products, formulated for excessive sweating, advertise 72 hours of effectiveness … But why are they more efficient?

• It is often a higher quantity of aluminum salts than in basic products which allows greater efficiency and a longer duration.

• Some formulas combine aluminum salts with another ingredient, such as magnesium oxide (from Vichy or L’Oréal Paris), which acts like small sponges.

• Others, essential oils or other anti-bacterial active ingredients (perfume, etc.) to prevent the formation of odors.

• In the most “long-lasting” products, we can find all three types of ingredients, or even microcapsules with a gradual release of perfume, which are activated as the product is produced. transpiration.

Our advice

These products are essential if you are one of the 4 million French people who have a problem of hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). Otherwise, don’t use them on a regular basis. You can adopt them on an ad hoc basis, for example in the event of a great physical effort or a stressful event that could trigger excessive sweating (meeting, exam …). The rest of the time, it is better to stay on a classic antiperspirant, or a deodorant if you do not sweat a lot.
